Stem: Branching, cylindrical, fleshy, with long up to 7 cm grey-white spines. Leaves: Green, fleshy, short lived, up to 12 cm long. Flowers: Pink, cup shaped. Fruit and Seeds: Green, oblong, egg or club-shaped, up to 10 cm long. Can grow in a chain of connected fruit. Habitat: Grasslands, shrublands, roadsides, waterways, open woodlands. Distinguishing Features: Is generally larger and has longer spines than lookalike Cane cactus (Austrocylindropuntia cylindrica).
