Family: Onagraceae Scientific name: Oenothera curtiflora Description: Plant Form: Annual herb. Size: Up to 1 m tall. Stem: Mostly unbranched, erect, softly hairy. Leaves: Egg to oval-shaped, up to 13 cm long, with wavy, munutely-toothed edges. Flowers: In dense, long narrow clusters up to 40 cm long. With pink petals and reddish stems. Open at sunset and fade by morning. Fruit and Seeds: Ridged, dry 1 cm long capsules. Habitat: Creeks, roadsides. Distinguishing Features: Smaller and less hairy than Clockweed (Oenothera lindheimeri).
