Family: Poaceae Scientific name: Cenchrus pennisetiformis Description: Plant Form Perennial tussock grass. Size Up to 1.5 m tall. Leaves Flat blades up to 30 cm long. Flowers In dense, cylindrical spike. Habitat Rangelands, grasslands, open woodlands, waste areas. Distinguishing Features Extremely similar to Buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) and was until recently considered the same species. May be distinguished by spikelet bristles being fused at the base.
