Bundy blackberry

Scientific name: Rubus laudatus
Description: Plant Form: Scrambling perennial shrub. Size: Up to 2 m tall. Stem: Long cane-like, green maturing to brown and covered in prickles. Arching, forming dense thickets. Roots at ends. Leaves: Consist of 3-5 oval-shaped leaflets 3-7 cm long. Bright green above, white with felt-like hairs underneath. With strongly serrated edges. Flowers: White flowers with 5 petals, in clusters of 3-12. Generally growing at end of stems at or near the same height (subcorymbose). Fruit and Seeds: Blackberry-like berry clusters which ripen from green to red and then black. Each segment contains a single black seed. Habitat: Urban bushland, forests, riparian areas, pastures. Distinguishing Features: Distinguished from Philadelphia blackberry (Rubus philadelphicus) in having flowers growing at close to the same height, and also having more serrated leaf edges.
