Leaves: Leaves are held on the stems and leaf bases sheath the stems. Leaves have a mat texture. Flowers: Head up to 18 cm long, consisting of 10-30 spike-like branches 2-8 cm long. Fruit and Seeds: Spikelets 3 cm long and hairless. In pairs. Habitat: Wetlands, drains, riparian areas, pastures, disturbed areas, cropping areas. Distinguishing Features: Distinguished from Signal grass (Urochloa decumbens) and St Lucia grass (U. brizantha) by having irregularly arranged spikelets (not in rows) and generally more branches in the seedhead.
