Description: Plant Form: Spreading or upright succulent herb. Size: Up to 80 cm tall. Stem: Richly branching, sometimes spreading. Leaves: Oval to spatula-like shape, 4-7 cm long. Fleshy and with varying lobes. Flowers: White or pale pinkish-purple, with 4 petals, 4-8 mm across. Fruit and Seeds: Two fused sections, upper is cone shaped, lower is cylindrical and similar width. Breaks open between two sections. Habitat: Dunes, beaches, coastal scrub. Distinguishing Features: American searocket (Cakile edentula) has a much narrower lower section of the fruit.
