Family: Poaceae Scientific name: Lolium perenne Description: Plant Form: Perennial grass. Size: Up to 80 cm tall. Stem: Upright or lying down with the end upright. Leaves: Blades up to 30 cm long, flat, hairless, smooth and often shiny. Flowers: Spike up to 30 cm long with each spikelet having up to 14 florets. Attached edge-on to the stalk. Fruit and Seeds: Each spikelet with one grain encased in a covering (glume). Habitat: Grasslands, roadsides, lawns, agricultural areas, open woodlands.
