Family: Brassicaceae Scientific name: Rorippa palustris Description: Plant Form: Annual or biennial rosette herb. Size: Up to 1 m tall. Stem: Erect or sometimes creeping. Often pigmented reddish and hairless. Leaves: Initially deeply lobed in rosette, then unlobed alternating up stems and smaller. 2-12 mm long. Flowers: Tightly compacted clusters of small yellow flowers at end of branched stems. Fruit and Seeds: Dry, inflated and curved capsules, 5-9 mm long and with seeds in 2 rows. Habitat: Wetlands, riparian areas, cropping areas. Distinguishing Features: Distinguished from Creeping yellowcress (Rorippa sylvestris) by having smaller petals, being annual or biennial (rather than perennial) and lacking rhizomes.
