Family: Polygonaceae Scientific name: Rumex conglomeratus Description: Plant Form: Perennial herb. Size: Up to 1 m tall. Stem: Stiff, branching (usually before halfway up) and widely spreading. Leaves: Oblong to narrow egg-shaped. Up to 20 cm long but usually under 6 cm. Larger in rosette at base, smaller and narrower further up. Flowers: Numerous inconspicuous small greenish flowers in dense clusters spaced widely along branches. Each cluster has a leafy bract, but these are much smaller higher up. Fruit and Seeds: 3-sided nut surrounded by enlarged valves up to 3 mm long. Each valve has a large lump. Habitat: Pastures, roadsides, riparian areas, open forests, urban bushland.
