Family: Polygonaceae Scientific name: Rumex sagittatus Description: Plant Form: Perennial scrambling or climbing herb. Size: Up to 5 m long. Stem: Hairless, ribbed, red or green, trailing along ground or climbing over supporting vegetation. Leaves: Soft, green, slightly fleshy, arrowhead-shaped 6-10 cm long, with two backwards facing lobes at base. Alternate along stem. Often with undulating or slightly curled edges. Flowers: Large spread out head in the shape of a bunch of grapes, with clusters of inflated green or greenish-white petals, often with a pink or purplish red tinge, enclosing the fruit. Fruit and Seeds: Small dark triangular nut about 3 mm across, enclosed in the inflated flower petals.
