Leaves: In opposite pairs, variable shape with toothed to deeply divided edges. 3-10 cm long. Flowers: Tubular purple, blue or pink, opening at the end into 2 lips. 7-13 mm long and in clusters of 6-10. Fruit and Seeds: Dry with 4 single-seeded segments. Seeds are brown, smooth, egg-shaped and 2-3 mm across. Habitat: Grasslands, open woodlands, forests, roadsides, cropping areas, waste areas, lawns, parks. Distinguishing Features: Distinguished from Mintweed (Salvia reflexa) by having toothed or lobed leaf edges and more variable flower colour.
