Family: Anacardiaceae Scientific name: Schinus molle Description: Plant Form: Evergreen shrub or tree. Size: Up to 10 m tall. Stem: Often multi-stemmed, with smooth and grey bark, becoming fissured with age. Younger branches drooping. Leaves: Compound leaves alternately arranged, with 17-35 leaflets, each up to 5 cm long. Flowers: Small, inconspicuous white to off-white, in drooping clusters. Fruit and Seeds: Abundant red or bluish-pink fleshy round fruit with single seeds. Habitat: Woodlands, riparian areas, wetlands, old gardens, coastal scrub, disturbed areas, roadsides. Distinguishing Features: Leaves are narrower and droop rather than spread compared to Broad-leaved pepper tree (Schinus terebinthifolius).
