Leaves: Oval to egg-shaped, 1-5 cm long, dark green above and paler underneath. With deeply toothed edges, rounded tip, and a sparse covering of stinging hairs. In opposite pairs on stems. Flowers: Inconspicuous, yellowish-green, in short dense clusters at the leaf joins. Fruit and Seeds: Dry, oval-shaped, up to 1.8 mm long. Distinguishing Features: Very similar to Scrub nettle (Urtica incisa) but has more rounded leaf tips, is generally smaller, and is annual rather than perennial.
