Family: Geraniaceae Scientific name: Pelargonium australe Description: Plant Form: Perennial herb. Size: Up to 50 cm tall. Stem: Densely covered in short hairs. Leaves: Oval to almost circular shaped with 5-7 lobes, with undulating and toothed edges. Hairy or sometimes hairless. Flowers: White or pink, with 5 petals with deep red streaks. In groups of up to 12 on long stalks. Fruit and Seeds: Candelabra-like cluster of 8-15 mm long, shaggy or hairy dry fruit. Habitat: This native plant inhabits a wide variety of habitats including coastal scrub, dunes, rocky outcrops, semi-arid areas, alpine areas. Impacts: Note - this is a native species.
