Family: Euphorbiaceae Scientific name: Homalanthus populifolius Description: Plant Form: Shrub or small tree. Size: Up to 6 m tall. Stem: Young stems smooth and fleshy with a whitish sap. Often reddish. Older bark often with numerous raised blisters. Leaves: Oval or heart-shaped with pointed end. Smooth on both surfaces. Lower surface often paler. Turn red before falling. Flowers: Small, in long clusters 2-10 cm long, greenish or yellowish with 2 petals along a spike-like stem. Fruit and Seeds: Green to purplish 2-lobed cases which are smooth and hairless, 8-10 mm across. Seed covered in yellowish growth.
